6 Best Magic The Gathering Accessories for Commanders

I’m a gaming accessories junkie. I love them all, from the uber-useful to the ridiculously pointless. Since recently becoming obsessed with Magic the Gathering, I have probably spent more on cool mtg accessories than cards. I love Magic the Gathering accessories. But which ones are my favorites? I was introduced to Magic: The Gathering nearly 20 years ago by my girlfriend (now wife). She helped me picked out my first starter deck: a black/red/white vampire-themed deck. Although I enjoyed the game, I never became fully invested. Shortly after starting, I moved on to my other hobbies: Dungeons and Dragons and computer games.

Fast forward to a couple of months ago…

One day some friends of mine mentioned starting up a Friday night Magic the Gathering game. The thought of having a guys’ night where we could play cards and drink beer immediately perked my ears. Then, as they started talking about “Commander Decks,” my curiosity was piqued even further. Soon, I was looking up cards, decks, and all the cool Magic The Gathering accessories for Commander decks.

After that first game, I was hooked. That very night, while sitting at the table where we had just played (and lost) with a borrowed deck, I ordered my first Commander deck from Amazon. It was a blue and black zombie deck called Grave Danger (I like spooky things—can you tell?). One of the guys, a veteran player, looked at my wife and jokingly apologized for introducing me to such an expensive hobby. We laughed, but in hindsight, I don’t think he was kidding.

I’m obsessed with accessories.

As a gamer, I’ve always loved accessories, tools, and other non-essential items for my hobbies. Just look at my collection of Dungeons and Dragons terrain pieces, paints, brushes, minis, and dice—so many dice. Naturally, I was thrilled to discover the plethora of peripherals available for Magic: The Gathering, especially for Commander games.
